Request a Stop
After dusk, drivers can stop between bus stops to let out passengers traveling alone. They will accommodate these requests as long as it is safe for the bus to stop. Simply make the request to the driver when you get on board.
Driver Safety
Our operators must undergo a 6 to 8 week training program. Codiac Transpo also has 7 peer staff trainers on-staff, allowing our drivers to undergo regular training to ensure they play their part in keeping our passengers safe.

Did you know that our buses can put as many as 70,000 (average approximation) kilometres of mileage on each year? Unlike vehicles for personal use, our buses must be inspected every six months. This is to ensure that they are maintained and safe for travel on the roads at all times.
Like other transit systems across the world, Codiac Transpo has modified their operations to ensure that transit is safe amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes equipping all buses with hand sanitizer, encouraging the wearing of masks and social distancing, installing Plexiglas to reduce operator and customer contact, and enhanced daily fleet sanitization of all of our buses. New fareboxes also minimize transaction/contact between customers and operators.
As part of our ongoing commitment to safety on-board, Codiac Transpo will be installing CCTV cameras on-board all buses, starting in 2023.
As part of ensuring on-board safety, Codiac Transpo has a system that alerts residents outside of the bus to phone 911 in the event of an emergency with a flashing emergency signal on the destination curtain screen on the front of the bus. These can be activated by operators in emergency situations.
